Business Advisory

Tim Fuller is a Special Counsel practising in Bennett & Philp’s Business Advisory team.

Tim is a senior commercial and corporate lawyer who advises national and multinational clients across corporate governance, commercial contracting, franchising, property, employment, intellectual property and regulatory compliance.

He works closely with boards, executives and senior stakeholders on complex commercial matters. His practice spans both advisory and transactional work and he is known for providing clear, practical advice on issues with significant legal, commercial and reputational consequences.

Tim has acted for high‑profile clients in the media, entertainment and professional sports sectors. His work in these areas has included advising on commercial and brand arrangements, intellectual property issues and regulatory compliance, including matters that have attracted national media attention.

Sports law forms a significant part of Tim’s practice. He is widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading sports law lawyers and academics, with particular expertise in the commercialisation and protection of sports rights, and the legal and regulatory environments in which professional sport operates. He advises a broad range of sports rights holders, governing bodies, professional competitions, leagues, clubs, agencies and professional athletes, both in Australia and internationally.

Tim has acted for organisations including LIV Golf, Octagon, IMG, the UK Super League, NRL  and the French Rugby Federation, and regularly advises on high‑value commercial arrangements, governance frameworks and disputes within professional sport.

A substantial component of this work involves integrity, disciplinary and anti‑doping matters. Tim has represented numerous professional athletes and clubs in investigations and proceedings arising from alleged rule breaches, including matters conducted at national and international tribunals and before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. He is well regarded for his experience in complex anti‑doping cases and his understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing professional sport.

In addition to his commercial and sports law work, Tim has established and advised leading not‑for‑profit foundations, assisting with governance structures, compliance obligations and organisational matters.

Before practising law, Tim played professional rugby league in the NRL for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Gold Coast, and later in France with the Catalans Dragons. This experience informs his understanding of the commercial and regulatory environment in which professional sport operates.
