Case Briefing Discussion – Technology and IP 2021

On Thursday, 11 March 2021, Bennett & Philp was pleased to host the first Case Briefing Discussion for the year from the Technology and Intellectual Property practice group at the Brisbane City Hall.

The event started with our Senior Associate, Michael Finney introducing the topic and our guest speaker, Mr. Neil Murray SC who kindly travelled up from Sydney to speak at our event.

About the Speaker

Neil’s analysis of the different approaches to claim support in Australia and the UK and the decision of Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp v Wyeth LLC  (No 3) [2020] FCA  1477 was considered and insightful.

Mr. Neil Murray S.C. took silk in 2018. His principal areas of practice (both at first instance and appellate level) span intellectual property (particularly patents, copyright, trade mark, confidential information, and designs), consumer protection, and other commercial/equity matters. Neil is an esteemed Senior Counsel who has appeared in a number of seminal IP cases over the past two decades.

Speaker Mr. Neil Murray

Our guests were particularly eager to engage in a discussion with Neil about the broader implications of the Merck v Wyeth decision.

Overall the event was very well recieved by our attendees. We would like to thank Mr. Murray and our guests for taking the time to join us for this engaging Discussion. Without the support of our trade mark and patent attorney colleagues, these events would not be possible.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next Case Briefing discussion event. If you would like to be added to our mailing list or get a copy of the slide pack, please contact us at events@bennettphilp.com.au.
