Experience
 

 

Simon is a director in the Commercial Law Group. He joined the firm in 1998 bringing with him over 15 years of experience in contentious and non-contentious commercial litigation and insolvency and bankruptcy issues.
 
Simon’s work involves:
 
  • Advices in joint venture and partnership disputes, corporate governance, company deadlocks and creditor appointments 
  • Advices on winding up applications, receiverships, voluntary administrations, bankruptcy matters including Part X Arrangements under the Bankruptcy Act (Cth), asset protection and corporate restructuring
  • Claim for restraint of trade under the Trade Practices Act (Cth) against a high profile news commentator 
  • Issuing a defamation action against a prominent sports coach 
  • Acting in the receivership of the Dollars and Sense Group
 
Simon acts for trade suppliers, property developers, debt collection agencies, financiers, accountancy firms, medium to large businesses, large companies and private individuals.
 
Simon is regarded as a leading litigator in his field of expertise. He has successfully negotiated and settled the majority of his cases.
 
Simon is also responsible for training and providing ongoing professional development opportunities to junior staff members.
 
Outside the firm, Simon is a Director and Shareholder of a privately owned sports business. He is a fitness enthusiast regularly competing in triathlons and is a member of the Spike Triathlon Club.
