Michael is a director in the Commercial Dispute Resolution and Litigation Group. His expertise ranges from debt recovery to insurance and insolvency litigation, intellectual property matters and employment disputes.
Michael has developed relationships with some of the major hardware and trade suppliers in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. He has advised on a variety of secured and unsecured debt recovery matters, legal and equitable securities, s.52 TPA (Trade Practices Act) compliance in relation to misleading and deceptive conduct, employing restrictive covenants to protect his client’s interests and advising on insolvency and bankruptcy issues.
Michael has advised public and private companies on issues affecting trademark and copyright infringement, IP licensing, corporate matters and ASIC/ACCC guidelines. He also continues to provide detailed advice in relation to unfair dismissals, termination/redundancy and fiduciary obligations.
Michael represents both debtor and creditor clients and undertakes an extensive range of both Plaintiff and Defendant work. He has acted for city councils, various government bodies, debt collection agencies and private individuals before the lower and superior courts in the State and Federal jurisdiction. He has also appeared before the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC), Commercial and Consumer Tribunal (CCT) and Anti-Discrimination Tribunal (ADT).
Michael is extremely informed in the rules of civil litigation. He is strategic and methodical in his provision of advice to clients often identifying potential risks and pre-empting areas of contention in highly complex matters well in advance of its occurrence.
